Abstract
International migration is currently a very hot topic in the world. Its relevance is increasing due to the negative value of natural increase. Migration of the population belongs to the important processes that cause changes in the socio-geographic, economic, social and demographic structures. The Slovak Republic is no exception.
Migration processes in our country intensified after joining the European Union and their weight in society is constantly growing. Therefore, we decided to focus on legal migration years 1992 – 2011, its detailed analysis of the demographic structure of migrants and their spatial distribution.
