The main aim of the article is to calculate the intrinsic rates of natural increase and migration balance and use them in the construction of Webb typology. We compare the changes between the three periods, specifically in the years 1988 – 1992, 2000 – 2004, 2012 – 2016 in the municipalities of the Slovak Republic. We localize the areas of the greatest changes or the strongest resistance considering the development of selected demographic indicators and regional differentiation. In particular, the analysis of the first period would not have been possible without the digitization of the analogue data source. We also solved the problem of different territorial divisions for each period. We refer to the differentiation of different areas and the areas with the greatest resistance and the greatest changes during the reporting periods.
