Abstract
The article deals with the seasonality of mortality in Slovakia. It analyzes data on monthly number of deaths broken down by sex, age and by selected causes of death from diseases of the circulatory and the respiratory system in the period from January 2000 to December 2019. It answers the question whether the number of deaths in Slovakia within a year is distributed randomly or it is really seasonal. It examines the differences of seasonal fluctuations according to selected causes of death. JDemetra+ software and the TRAMO / SEATS method, which belongs to a group of methods explicitly based on the ARIMA stochastic model, were used for seasonal analysis of selected mortality time series.
