Abstract
Implementation of new data sources, the so-called “scanner data” into the production of price statistics represents a significant methodological change, the introduction of which may significantly affect both the level of price indices and the dynamics of their corresponding monthly or annual rate of change. Working with this type of transaction data is a new unexplored area of the activity for the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, their use in official statistics brings many questions, and the issues require a number of analyses with an impact on the change of production
processes.
