Abstract

Income poverty and material deprivation are two concepts whose merging enables to analyse different aspects of households’ and individuals’ living conditions. The measures of material deprivation can be used as a proxy for permanent income and may offer additional information on the material living conditions of households and individuals. This paper discusses the construction of child material deprivation indices using variables made available by the 2009 EU-SILC Module on material deprivation.
