Abstract

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the development of educational structure of rural areas in the Czech Republic at the level of municipalities and municipalities with an extended scope in the period of 2001-2011. Changes of the educational structure and other structural characteristics belong among the basic characteristics determining the preconditions for the inner potential of municipalities. A favourable educational structure represents then a key prerequisite for a possible realisation of rural development policies and strategies, increasingly based on the local human capital specifics in the last decades. However, rural municipalities cannot be assessed separately without the development tendencies of urban spaces. A sophisticated rural delimitation must be preceded by own evaluation.
