Abstract
In the last quarter-century, population development of the Slovak Republic is facing very dynamic and dramatic changes. The main carriers of these changes were young people under 30, born in the 70s and 90s. The shifts in the intensity and nature of reproductive and family behaviour consequently affect changes in the number and composition of the population under the age of 15. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the development of the child component, adolescents and young adults in Slovakia in the last three population censuses and construct their possible development in the future. Moreover, it focuses on the changes in reproductive and family behaviour of persons under the age of 30.
