Abstract
Material deprivation is part of the monitoring of the population´s living conditions and expresses the sense of inadequate satisfaction of the needs of households and its members. The paper deals with the changes in material deprivation measurements when the original indicator of material deprivation is based on a list of 9 items and its new indicator on a list of 13 items. In addition to the analysis of the basic comparison of the individual variables, the article examines the possible impact of these changes and the analysis of both indicators by age groups and the labour market position of persons, supplemented by the monitoring of gender inequality.
