Abstract

Nuptiality and divorce in Czech Republic and in the Slovak Republic has undergone great changes since the beginning of the 20th century. These transformations are reflected not only in nuptiality and divorce rate, but also in the structure of the population by marital status, the characteristics of families and households. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the long-term development of nuptiality and divorce in the Slovak Republic and in the Czech Republic. We focus on assessing the development of intensity, tempo of nuptiality and the development of divorce risk, in the context of socio-political and political changes as well as legislative measures.
