Abstract

Price statistics are undergoing a major transformation as a result of the integration of scanner data from retail chains, online transaction data, and web-scraped data. Their implementation requires not only methodological changes in data processing and compilation of consumer price index but also the establishment of a comprehensive quality management system. This paper presents the methodological aspects and practical experience of the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic in the integration of new data sources into the production of consumer price indices. It highlights the importance of cooperation with data providers, automated data processing, validation procedures, expert supervision, and the appropriate selection of methodological approaches to ensure the quality of official statistical outputs.
