Abstract

The aim of the paper is to evaluate the current and mainly the expected demographic development in the regions of Považie, Pohronie and Ponitrie. The assessment focuses on the differences among these three significant regions as well as on their position within Slovakia. In addition to the demographic situation, the assessment also takes into account other aspects of regional development – geographical, urban, settlement and economic characteristics. Data for cultural regions are used for demographic analysis and forecasting.
