Abstract

The struggle against poverty or social exclusion is one of the key long-term objectives of the social policy of the Slovak Republic and the European Union. A comprehensive indicator of the risk of poverty or social exclusion is used to monitor this objective, combining three dimensions: income poverty, severe material and social deprivation and very low work intensity. The Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic conducts the EU SILC survey annually, which provides detailed data on household incomes and living conditions. The aim of this article is to indicate the state of poverty or social exclusion in Slovakia in 2024 in all three dimensions of poverty for Slovakia, but also in individual regions. At the same time, the composite indicator of the risk of poverty or social exclusion is analysed in more detail in terms of selected types of households, with the analysis extending to the regional level.
