Abstract

In order to design measures to alleviate population ageing, it is necessary to know the factors affecting this process. The article evaluates the influence of factors that directly influence the age structure of population, i.e. fertility, mortality and migration. Prognostic simulations based on the cohort-component method are used for evaluation. Furthermore, the article focuses on finding out how the selection of indicators affects the measurement of changes in the age structure of the population. Not only the most common standard indicators based on survived age are used, but also the prospective indicators based on potential age.
