Abstract

Ageing is one of the fundamental features of current population development with an irreversible impact into the future. The process of population ageing has fundamentally changed along with the second demographic transition that has included complex changes in family and reproductive behavior. The aim of this study temporal aspects of Slovakia’s population and changes in its age structure from 1950 to 2013. Spatial differentiation has been an important attribute of the ageing process in Slovakia. The second aspect of the survey was the analysis of population ageing in Slovakia compared with other European countries from 1960 to 2013.
