Abstract

There is no doubt that prolongation of human age is one of the mankind´s success stories but on the other hand, this process has brought about many previously unknown problems and challenges. When searching for measures and instruments of population ageing, it is important to know – besides the quantitative indicators and development trends – also data on the quality of life of the elderly and their experiencing of everyday life. The article presents some dimensions of quality of life of elderly people in Slovakia and compares them with available data from several European countries.
