Abstract
The aim of the paper is to analyze some aspects of the family and reproductive behaviour of persons living in marginalized Roma communities in Slovakia using the available data obtained within the EU-SILC MRK 2020 survey. The obtained results confirmed the significantly younger age structure of these persons, considerable reproductive potential for further population development, as well as a very low representation of the senior component and thus the burden on the productive group. The analysis also pointed to an earlier start of marriage and motherhood, as well as an inconsiderable part of people who do not enter into marriage, or will never become a mother. A characteristic feature is also the low proportion of widowed and especially divorced persons. The results also confirm the great importance of cohabitation. Households with a larger number of people are dominant. These are mainly two-parent households with three or more dependent children. Various forms of multigenerational coexistence are also a major part. On the contrary, low level of participation is achieved by households of individuals, households of two adults without dependent children, as well as single-parent families.
