Abstract

The aim of the article is to analyze the probability of living in a severely materially and socially deprived (SMSD) household in Slovakia and Czechia in 2019 and 2023. Based on the EU-SILC databases, 4 logit models are estimated, separately for the 2 countries and the 2 years mentioned. Spatial comparisons of SMSD probabilities for different groups of people revealed significant divergences in SMSD risks between Slovakia and Czechia. Temporal comparisons between 2019 and 2023 uncovered changes in the mentioned countries during the polycrisis period. The article confirms that the confluence of several adverse factors has an adverse synergistic effect on the probability in question. Quantifying changes in SMSD probabilities has important consequences for the development of targeted social policy.
