Abstract<\/h5>\n

The Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic deals with the issue of the Slovak women\u00b4s position in several fields. The aim of this article is to describe and analyse the factors influencing the position of women in the society in Slovakia, mainly in the labour market, in the field of remuneration for work and in the public life and to compare their situation to the development in the EU countries. The article deals too with the success rate of women in the elections to the European Parliament, the national parliament and the self-governing bodies of municipalities, cities and regions in Slovakia.<\/p>\n
