In applying the Six Sigma methodology, it is essential to apply process performance characteristics when evaluating a process appropriately. The obtained results serve as a basis for decision-making on the Six Sigma projects. The aim of the paper is to provide a summary overview of these characteristics with an emphasis on their statistical significance, their interconnections, and the data collection methods for their calculation. The method of choosing the sample size and implementing a random sample when calculating the number of nonconformities per million opportunities will be proposed, and the interpretation possibilities of the obtained results will be presented. Understanding the statistical relationships among the process performance characteristics can facilitate their applications in practice. Applying the proposed random sampling procedure may facilitate more accurate evaluations of the process performance.<\/p>\n
