One of the possible new sources is transaction data from retail chains, also known as scanner data. However, the use of such sources represents a significant methodological change. One of the fundamental changes is the shift in the price concept. Prices obtained in the traditional way, known as shelf prices, which are determined at a specific time, are replaced by average prices per unit of goods. The accuracy of the unit price is influenced by the period taken into account when determining it.
